  1. Hey there

I have an XviD video which plays 100% with audio with all avi-players I have on my computer. But when I want to convert this avi to DvD Format (Mpeg) then the conversionprogram (TMPGENC or any other) claims the audio is corrupt or not compatible.

Is there another codec I should download to be fully able to convert this file to DvD?

    Thanx!

ac3 audio? (Use gspot to identify the audio codec.)

  3. Thanks!!
I downloaded GSpot and it was indeed AC3 Audio. Too bad I already installed that. I am now looking for the newest version of AC3, maybe that'll help. But in the meantime, maybe you have some other ideas??
    Maybe not...

    Thanks again!

You can keep the audio as ac3 and only convert the video to dvd mpeg2:

Or convert the ac3 to wav/mp2 and use it as audio source in tmpgenc:

  5. Hello there again

I tried to take the audio and save it to wav, but I get the same problem. Very weird. No encoding program can identify the audio codec, but again, I can play the video with every kind of player. Maybe there's a fix program to fix the audio?

    Hmmm...

  6. Try opening your avi in GoldWave, and then Save As.. a wav file.

You may want to normalise the audio too - in GoldWave it's Effect->Volume->Maximise - as AC3 to wav often comes out very quiet.

Then just feed the wav into TMPGEnc as the audio source.

    cheers,

  7. No more replies needed. Thanx for the tips. With Goldwave it worked. Not quite at first, but when I changed some settings in the AC3 preferences Goldwave recognized the audio-format!

Only the videoquality sux at the moment...but let's take that to another topic .

    Bye
