  1. Source : VCR PAL (240 X 576)
    Output : DVD PAL (352 X 576)

Try to use a program that captures straight to MPEG2 so you dont have to render. Set the resolution to 352 X 576 and audio to MPEG Layer 2 (128 or 224). The output is a large mpeg file. Feed the file to TMPENG Author and burn. Ready!
(in case your dvd is bigger than 4.3 GB, use dvdshrink to compress)

HINT: The better the source the lesser (variable or constant) bitrate you set in the capture mpg file settings (i use 3000). Go to 4000 if your source is noissy...

    cheers!

    lol :>

Anyway: DVD-Video standard calls for PCM or AC3, doesnt it? Mpeg-1 l2 is audio standard for VCD.
Many (if not majority) of standalone dvd players have problem with mpeg audio on DVDs.

MP2 audio is fine for PAL DVD but MP2 is not a "STANDARD" for the NTSC market (at least not in the USA/CANADA) so some USA/CANADIAN DVD players do indeed have "issues" with DVD discs that use MP2 audio.

However there are a lot of USA/CANADIAN DVD players that can handle MP2 on a NTSC DVD without any "issues" or problems at all.
