Hi,
This is a bit of a weird problem - please bear with me!
I have 24 Series 1 and 2 in a box set at home, but I am a bit reluctant to take it to uni with me. Instead, I want to take a DivX copy with me - if it decides to walk (as things tend to do here) then it's not so important.
I have successfully encoded all of Series 1. No problem, 350MB per episode, lovely quality. But, Series 2 point blank refuses to be encoded!
I am using Vidomi and DivX 5 Pro, with the exact settings used for Series 1 yet it is making a mess of the video. There's "false colour" where colour is encoded wrongly, a lot of macroblocking and distortion around any movement and the image is generally very blocky and blurry. It's like trying to encode it into a tiny file, but it's using up all the space I give it and still looks terrible.
I have no trouble encoding any other video I have - I used my Swordfish DVD to test it out and it encodes just fine.
Could this problem be down to Vidomi or with the DivX Codec? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both (at the same time) but it's not done anything. More likely, it's to do with the source video, but I do not have another encoder that works (XMPEG won't work at all for me).
If anyone can help, it would me much appreciated.
