  1. Im a newb.I have made a movie using widows movie maker 2. And when i try to burn it ot svcd and vcd the film I took with the 8mm the footage shows up blocky on the tv. I have tried nero 6 and Tmpgenc ,but Im not sure what the settings should be. The .wmv file is 720x480,bit rate 1709. Can anybody tell me the right settings our how to do this so it won't be blocky.

    No surprise there, Windows Movie Maker is not that good a product.

    You say the Bitrate is 1709, that is very low. Remember, VCD is MPEG1 and you will not get good quality with MPEG1

    Typically for DVD use, MPEG2 files are 6000, even SVCD is 2500-3000 for good quality.

    How are you getting the "film" onto the computer?

    If it is saved in AVI format, try editing it with VirtualDub and frame serve it to TMPGEnc. There are guides here on how to do that.

    If the video is under 45 minutes, you can convert it to SVCD format in TMPGEnc and it will look much better.
