  1. I have an E30, and I have been using it to convert my VHS Boxing collection to DVD. I have been using CompUSA brand DVD-R's and I have noticed that there are many instances of split second slow down with the picture, it happens about 5 times during the course of a 3 minute round.....so needless to say it's very annoying. Audio does not seem to slow down however.

Now one thing that I do, is that I use the LP mode to record the introductions, and then switch to SP mode to record the actual fight...as a result I end up with well over 2 hours on the disc.....but I'm thinking maybe switching the speeds that much is causing some problem.......I don't know but if anybody out there can help mewith some advice, I would appreciate it.

  2. That is probably the issue (switch between modes). The default value for the E30 (I also have one) is VBR mode. The quality isnt as good as constant quality (IMO), but it may fix the problem.

  3. This crap is still happening...and actually appears to have gotten worse. It's made be so damn sick, that the thought of trying to convert my ever growing VHS pile makes me want to puke. I have not touched the thing in months. (until last weekend).....I am starting to think that the whole idea of SMOOTH video conversion is a farce.....I got Screwed on the Tarapin, and it looks like Panasonic got me too.

As a last ditch effort I am going to try Sony DVD-R's.......if this does not work....there is but one solution, and that is....

    The Hammer!

Before you drop-kick it into the dumpster, try it with a clean source and see if it does it with that. It could be there is damage to some of the tapes, or maybe they are giving the Panny fits trying to capture. Tapes are the worst source material. Your Panny has a built-in TBC, but it won't work miracles with a tape that has edge curl or other flaws.

  5. I bet it's your media. I use Accu media, about $62/100 at meritline. I put hundreds of disks in & they work. They also also play on anything I put them in, dvd players, writers, etc of ANY manf.

Yes, you should always test with the manf media first, in this case, Sony. Don't use cheapo media in your machine.
