I have a muxed mpg 1 file that I want to put on svcd. I tried the QT mpeg-2 export (because I read where sync works better with QT export), however, it is not an option in the pulldown menu. IS it because it is a muxed mpg 1? The mpeg-2 option does appear for other files.

my question is, if its mpeg1 why go about the process of converting it to mpeg2 for SVCD. you wont have any sort of "quality increase" as compared to you simply making a VCD.
have you considered just making a VCD instead of encoding to mpeg2?! -
Actually, you can do what you want using Toast 6. Choose the "Video" tab, choose "DVD Video" and drag your muxed MPEG-1 file onto Toast. Highlight the video in the window then click on the "Export" button at the bottom. Toast will export your file to DV, then you can recompress it in MPEG-2.
