  1. I am sorry, but I did not see this in the rip guide.
It it is there, you can call me stupid...(or tired)!

There is a movie I want, but cannot get VHS, and DVD is only PAL region 2, and there is no VCD.

IF I can rip and then convert the PAL DVD, then I will buy it. I am in US, and thus region 1. I do not have a reg 2 disk to test on...

The movie, BTW, is the 1982 version of the Scarlet Pimpernel, with anthony andrews and Jane Seymore.

I have succesfully ripped before, but they were region 1 ntsc.

    You can but it's timeconsuming.

    First rip the vob files.
Then I think you have to make a temporary avi with VirtualDub. Do NOT save it as uncompressed RGB...
    Extract the wave file.
Change the framerate from 25 to 23.976.
Save avi with no sound checked.
Open the newly saved avi and go to the end to check the new duration. It should be around 4% longer now since you slowed down the movie.
Open the wavefile in CoolEdit 2000 or a similar prg.
Go to Time/Stretch in the menu.
Add the new duration time in seconds. Use conserve pitch (or something like that). Save the stretched wavefile.
Open the avifile. Under sound use you stretched wave file.
You might have to fiddle a bit with sounf preload to get it to synch correctly. Check both in the beginning and end of the movie to see that it's correctly synched.
    Save as avi.
Go to Tmpgenc and use NTCS Film (vcd or svcd) and encode.
    Burn...
Thats all but it is timeconsuming...
