can i hack my dvd burner or rom in my pc for regio code pla?

i'm trying to back up a region 3 dvd and neither dvdshrink nor dvddecrypter will open it, appearantly my burner and rom are locked to gegion 1. how can i hack this so i can back up other regions and is there a program i could use that would nullify the region? thanks

If it is truly locked - ie you've changed it a number of times already and it won't let you any more - you might be stuffed. Some are permanently locked at this stage.
