Hello all. Can someone provide assistance to this rookie on converting AVI to MPEG-2 using TMPGEnc? Am attempting to convert a 717.5 MB file to eventually burn to DVD, but when proper settings are completed the program indicates that the file will end up being 7+ GB in size. How is this possible? What am I missing? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this guide. By the way, if you use TMPGEnc's Project Wizard it will calculate the correct bitrate so your MPEG-2 file fits on one DVDR.

Lower your bitrate. It's strictly bitrate, the size of the source doesn't affect the final size (although it does affect the quality). This happens when you are working with templates and the wizard.

And here is a link to a bitrate calculator:

    P.S.
There are many guides on this site for converting AVI to MPEG-2 DVD standard. Just look in the GUIDES section over there (look left!)

Page (4/5) of the TMPGEnc project wizard functions as a bitrate calculator.
