Hi all,
Finally bought my 4040B today. Will install tomorrow on my XP Pro Dell Dimension 4500.
Any recommendations before I begin?
I have two hard drives...one NTFS(main HD) and one FAT32(data storage).
One old klunky DVD Rom drive
One "middle aged" Sony CD Burner.
I could live without either drive....makes no difference to me. Your choice..
And what is this I hear about Dell's using the CS Cable Select(CSEL) jumper for all of the drives in the computer? My girlfriend says that is the way it is right now....it's her computer.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

a little late, but may be helpfull.
most motherboards of late will detect and assign the ide master/slave based on the peripherals possition on the ata/ide cable when jumped "cable select"(end plug=master/second plug in=slave). unless you have a specific reason to alter this intrinsic assignment or are experiencing a hardware conflict it is best to leave cs default.- DENON AVR3802/DVD3800
