  1. I have a full length film in 2 parts on an avi format. I want to join them both together to put onto a DVD. So far i have extracted the audio from each part using virtualdub and then converted each using TMPgenc to get a compliant file.
Using easy video joiner the film works perfectly if played back in Media player. Thats the easy part.

When i burn it to dvd the audio goes out on the 2nd part of the film by about 1-2 seconds
I have tried extracting the audio using virtualdub but get the message of 'pack system error' yet it worked fine for each part. Ive then extracted it with goldwave and converted yet i still get the sync is still out.

Manually checking parts of the audio against the video sees the sound fluctuating between perfect syncronisaton and +/- 2 seconds out of sync.
Ive also used TMPenc dvd author and still no sucess as the VOB's are still out..

Before anyone says anything i have searched the forums and guides for help (and printed them) with numerous programs and nothing seems to fix the problem i am having.

I have a collection of flashy tea coasters but no films.

    Any help would be appreciated

  2. also forgot

the original file was 480x480 svcd format - i dont see that this shoud be the problem.
Also in TMPgenc the file will stop half way through if joined

sorry to be so long winded but this is beginning to pis* me off now

  3. I see two possibilities here.

TMPGEnc is a horrible audio encoder. You might try BeSweet to encode the audio, but first...

You might try frameserving the .avi files using VirtualDub directly into TMPGEnc. You can 'join' both .avi files in VirtualDub without physically creating the file, extract the .WAV file and then frameserve to TMPGEnc to create your video stream. Create your audio stream with BeSweet and author them both together.

This assumes that the sync problem is not in your .avi files, but given that you tried to use TMPGEnc for audio encoding, I'd suspect that's your problem...

Also, do not join mpegs, join the vobs instead.

  5. the VOBs are out of sync when i author it in 2 parts and will not author as a joined file.

I can encode both at the same bitrate for audio and visual. When joining it says thats part 2 is not compatible with part 1, this is also the same error i get in Ulead DVD movie factory as it wants to convert again.

This is a real annoying problem as i have never had this trouble with anything else before.

  6. Using easy video joiner the film works perfectly if played back in Media player
I have found that when I join videos (for instance with Ulead Video Studio) and then author with TmpgencDVD Author the second half is out of sync as you have described. Strangely they play fine in Media Player or Power DVD just as you described.

The solution that works for me is not to join them with an outside program but to just use Tmpgenc DVD Author. There is at most a very slight glitch between the two videos when the DVD is played.

This has probably allready been considered by you and rejected because of the slight pause or glitch. I just thought I would mention it for completeness.

  7. thanks for the replys folks

problem has now been solved by converting in tmpgenc as an mp2 , then authored in tmpgenc dvd then burnt in nero
