  1. I would like to use my PC for running editing and authoring software like pinnacle studio, can someone tell me how important it is to have a good grahics card, what should I be looking for and how much memory does it need to have.

    Unless your playing games any card would 32megs or more should be fine. That is assuming you do not want the video card itself to be the capture card.

    Of course if your a gamer I suggest a ATI 9600 Pro or the new 9600XT as a min. card right now.

  3. Some extra info would be useful, how much your willing to spend, gaming (ie what types, does gaming mean HL2 and Doom 3 or minesweep to you) etc..

Nope not into gaming, what I want to do is edit and author my own dv movies, problem I keep getting is a slight hesitation when adding transitions and cutting movies, everything seems to slow down, I am running a Athlon 2400+ with 512 mb ram 2x 80gb hard drives and a 32 mb tnt graphics card, any advice would help

    Sounds to me that u have everything u need to accomplish the task at hand. The hesitation is prolly in your HD or motherboard. I'd add more RAM to start with, since that'd be the cheapest and easiest upgrade u could do. I doubt the problem is in your video card. When yer doing video work, there's no such thing as too much ram.
