  1. Hi,

Is there dvd authoring software available that will allow me to have a top level menu with entries for each movie?

I want this so I can select either movie when the DVD loads,

    Thanks!

  3. Correct, in TMPGEnc DVD Author you can import more than 1 movie
and make the dvd almost any way you want it.
I have made several dvd's with 5 or 6 mpg files each with it's own thumbnail and chapters. No problem at all!
You can load mpg's but also vob files.

  4. Any DVD authoring software worth the name can do this provided you have the movies in the appropriate forms (I mean mpegs, not vobs).

Some good ones that spring to mind are TmpGenc DVD author, DVD-Lab, Ulead DVD workshop or MovieFactory...

Is there a guide to getting the "thumbnails" in the main menu?

    Thanks!

That depends which authoring proggy you choose but many (most?) can automate this to a greater or lesser extent.

  7. Sorry, should have been a bit more specific

I want to use DVD Author - from which I usually have excellent results for my other projects!

    Thanks!

DVDShrink can do it very easily, from VOB's no less. It's easy to do episode DVD's as well. I use it for a disk full of 'extras'.

  9. baron -

    for thumbnail construction help, try:

    1) helpfile in your dvd author app.
    2) if you have TMPGenc dvd Author, check thier website forums.
    3) do a search right here on this website - both forums and guides.
    4) using a rewritable disk, do a litlle experimenting to get comfortable.

  10. To add the thumbnail all you have to do is start the menu and then click on the black box for that particular track. A window will open and allow you to scan through the movie to create a still for the menu from the actual movie. Super easy.

  11. Yes like AarontheRipper has said, you can load the clip, and choose a particular scene to create a thumbnail, or you can load a predefined bitmpa/jpeg file, such as an DVD art cover that you can downloaded from the net.

  14. Dvd Copy Platinum (intermedia.com) can do it too....don't confuse this with Dvdxcopy Platinum though.
