  1. I've determined that a video I got from somewhere is in PAL format. I'd like to put it on an SVCD. What is my best option to do so? I'm not sure what format the audio is in, does this matter?

I tried searching for options on here, and came up empty, sometimes there's too many hits.

    mencoder
    mpeg2works
    ffmpegx
    quicktime pro with mpeg2 export
and the list goes on and on

i type in .avi to .mpeg and i get 6732 hits! so much so it says add more keywords

type in .avi to .mpeg2 and i get 76

its been covered before, if you still cant find what you need, feel free to ask

  3. Yes, it even plays fine in QT. I even encoded and muxed to what I thought was an SVCD compatible format but I got no sound, so I'm re-evaluating the options.

I guess I'm just looking for a few quick suggestions on what to try to make sure I can make a SVCD out of it.
