Nero6 keeps saying, "Device in use by another application"

I am using the NEC 1300A DVD burner. I purchased 2 of them. One of them works just fine with Nero6 in another machine, but this one keeps getting this error in Nero. Can anyone tell me what's going on and how to fix it?

I have tried uninstalling everything that might be remotely associated with my dvd burner and still nothing. I did have an older version of Nero on this machine for my CD burner, but I uninstalled it and still same problems.

i have had the same problem, i don't know if youre using pinnacle instant copy, but i un-installed it, reboot and the problem was gone, maybe this helps for you also.

I'm not familiar with Nero 6 (still use 5.5 without any problems). I remember getting this error with rewritable DVDs, since Nero's InCD kicks in if it recognizes a rewritable DVD in the burner.

My solution was to first start Nero. Once it is up and running I insert the rewritable DVD. Problem gone.

Not sure whether this is 100% related to your problem, but thought I'd share it anyway.

Check the running services on your computer and turn Imapi off. Another alternative is to open the task manager and turn off the "imapi.exe."

Yes, Pinnacle Instant Copy versions 7 and 8 can cause problems with Nero versions 5 and 6.
