  1. I got this problem, which I find quite weird.
I tried hooking up my VCR to the Canopus thru SCART -> Adapter -> S-video IN.
As many of you in this forum, I got a b/w picture.

Today I connected the same VCR with the same scart adapter to the S-video input of my Sony TV and SURPRISE!!! I have a colour picture!!

The VCR is not a s-vhs but why do I get colours on TV and b/w on the Capture card?
    How can you explain that?

  2. The Canopus is set to NTSC video by default. Maybe you need to change to PAL?

  3. I have same problem and have dip switch set to PAL. Also the same with Dazzle DVC capture.
Life is what happens just when you've got everything planned.

  4. Scratchie.... no, the switch is set to PAL as I'm trying to capture a PAL video.
I wonder if these capture cards are so sensitive that if you don't feed them with a perfect signal, they won't work.
As I said, I plug the cable into the TV and it's colour... plug it into the card and it's b/w!!
Shouldn't I get a b/w video on the TV if the problem was the VCR output?

It may be that the Sony TV is clever enough to realise that you aren't giving it an S-Video signal so is switching to composite and giving you colour.
