    Guys and gals,
The title says it all. I have encoded a downloaded AVI using TMPGEnc Plus into an SVCD. I then used the header trick to change the header to MPEG1 non-compliant.

I burned the file using Nero (ignoring it's compliance warning).

It plays on my Sony DVD but I hear "noise" and it clips the sound. Also the video is slightly jerky.

    Any thoughts?

Get a real DVD Player. Sorry, sounds callous, but the 'VCD Header Trick' is just that, a trick. If you player doesn't support SVCD, then it's inadequate for you needs.

Or you can buy a DVDRW to backup your own DVD's. Converting 1960's educational videos seems like a lot of work for having to use the header trick.

I checked the compatability and my SONY DAV-S800 can play SVCDs using the header trick.
