Can someone give me the skinny here? I've got a basketball game on a DVD, and want the file on my hard drive as MPEG2 so I can edit it. I have two tapes of the game, but am missing important parts, and I would really like to get this project started, hence the reason for my post and not reading the way I always do. If anyone can direct me to a program that can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Check out the GUIDES and TOOLS section for DVDDecrypter, SmartRipper and ISOBuster. One of those should be able to get you what you want.

When I've ripped DVD's to Mpeg2, I used DVDx. NOT DVDxCopy. DVDx is free, but it takes a few hours to do it since it re-encodes frame by frame. The video quality is excellent btw.

However you do it, just remember to use a standard resolution. If you try to hand pick your resolution, you'll likely run into issues later when u try to author it to a DVD.
