how can I create a photoCD

Instead of putting all my photos in the root directoryand have to scroll thru them one by one or have a separate CD for each special occasion, I like to write them into separate folders under different names. I am not sure if there is a special format I should use so that I can actually see this folder and pick out which one to open on screen with my dvd player.
