    When i try to convert a avi to dvd the movie comes out elongated what ca I do to stop this

    What do you mean by "elongated"? Do you mean that the file was small as an avi and filesize of the encoded file increased? If so, then that's to be expected...that's suppose to happen.

    No I mean every thing on the movie looks like it has been streached heaught wise. Everything looks skinny and long

    Turn your set on its side. That way they will look short and fat.
    Did you check on the FULL SCREEN-KEEP ASPECT RATIO?
