  1. Hi I'm a real newbie to dvd burning, I have some quick questions that I hope people will answer for me!?!?

I just got a Dell with a DVD+R/RW drive and DVD-ROM (2 Drives). I have a whole bunch of DVD-R's that I would like to backup.

    1. Do I have to rip the DVD-R to my HD and then write it to DVD+R? . . . . . . . . .. . Or can I just do a Disc-to-Disc copy?

    2. What is the best program to do my Disc-to-Disc copies? (I only do disc-to-disc copies with my DVD-R, Not regular DVD's)

I have Sonic Recordnow and My DVD LE that came with the computer. Would you recommend somthing else? I heard NERO was good!!!!

    Please help me!?!? Thank You

  2. If its already a rip then u shouldnt have to.U should be able to burn disc 2 disc. If u do have a problem then try dvd2one to retranscode it . Make sure that your dvdplayer"standalone" is compat with Nero. I have 2 players and one player plays with Nero and other plays with RecordNow. Ive never really had a problem burning movies except using "IMATION MEDIA " so try it what do have to lose.

But most people here referring to transcoders mean "shrinking" programs, like DVDShrink. The above posts suggests DVD2One, another transcoder.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts.

For copying DVD-R to DVD+R you can use any burning program such as Nero, RecordNow,....

Sometimes when a DVD-R is very full a problem can occur because the DVD+R holds 6MB less than a DVD-R.
You can solve this problem with DVD Decrypter:
    1. Copying the movie as image to your hard drive: ISO read
    2. Burning the image file to DVD+R: ISO write
You will get an error at the end of the burning process and miss the last 5 seconds of the movie but thats all.

Or you can always cut a couple of seconds out using DVD Shrink Start-End function.
You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off.
