I would like to use DVDShrink to backup my DVDs with menus. If there's some title / extra that I don't want to include on DVDr what should I do to remove that? What is the easiest way? Re-Author option shouldn't be used since it removes menus etc. If I use the Backup option what software should I use after that to replace some title with still picture (telling for example that the title has been removed ).

BTW, what's your opinion about the quality of DVDShrink? People has told that the quality is bad but I don't agree if you can use the quality of 70% or more. If it goes under that the difference can be seen but what can you expect from the program that encodes whole DVD in 30 minutes or so

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Quaility of DVD Shrink transcodes is in the eye of the beholder. As you said if the compression needed is small and you run a deep analysis, the quaility can be excellent. For other backups (lots of dark scences, large compression, etc) the quaility can be quite poor.

DVD Shrink really doesn't give you the option to selectively remove VTS files. What most people do is remove unwanted material with IFOEdit, then compress with DVD Shrink if needed.

You can also strip stuff out with DVD Toolbox, IIRC. I'm not sure about VOBEdit (don't use it) but I think doom9.org has some guides for using it to feed to DVD Shrink too.

DVDs use a file structure, not a file format. So you can't just cut/paste pieces like a normal video file/project (note the multiple posts/guides on this subject).

    Thanks for your help.

I don't think that the problem would be ripping (and removing) unnecessary titles with some existing software but replacing those with some kind of still picture...I don't know if this requires too much work compared to the advantage gained
