I was curious as to what type of laptop people here own. I just retired a Gateway solo to my son and replaced it with a pro-star 4074. I purchased the new unit from a local mom and pop computer store I use almost exclusive for all my hardware purchases. I am VERY happy with this purchased. I'm sitting here on WiFi in the comfort of my living room @ a cool Hyper-threading 3.06 Ghz. For way less than the big three prices, for this fully loaded machine. I just wondered what others were buying with the hard earned green?

I have an old Toshiba Portege 3010CT, P266Mhz that I use Wishing for eiter a Portege 3500 tablet or the R100 super slim machine. Doesn't really bother me that neither of those is super faster.
For most things that old 3010 works very well, surfing is tolerable, word processing is fine, Photoshop for small projects works fine. Only playing video, and other disk or processor intensive things sucks. I just don't do a lot of that type of stuff on that machine, I have others for those tasks. At about 3 pounds with the battery, I like the weight for when it has to travel.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Panasonic CF-25. 75Mhz Processor with 16meg of ram. 800meg hard drive, touch screen and windows 95

I like the C800 the most, but I use the CPx on the road all the time...It's my Mandrake boxen
The C810 has never left my docking station -
I have an older Toshiba Satellite. It has a 400Mhz K6 processor. It's still plenty fast for word processing and web browsing.

HP Pavilion ZE410, just use it for surfing from my coffee table, hooked to cable modem. Was around $600 after rebates from Staples. Plays DVD's, no burners, got plenty of burners with my other systems. Better than watching TV when I get home from work.
EDIT: Also have an older Panasonic, sucker refuses any OS other than Win 95, Will attack it someday and try to stuff in XP or Linux. -
