  1. I'm having a lot of problems with TMPGEnc lately, .dll errors, and times for divx movies when converting to svcd mpeg2 it says the movies are twice as long as they actually are.
I'm looking for a similar program that:
    - converts to mpeg-2
    - Keeps the same aspect ratio (haven't found this anywhere besides tmpgenc)

    Any ideas???

  2. I use both CCE and TMPEGnc both with no problems. They both seem to have their strengths. If you have DLL errors with TMPEGnc try uninstalling, delete the program directory and do a fresh re-install. Make sure you are using the latest version and if not do a clean install after an uninstall -- do not upgrade over top of the previous version.

As for the files appearing twice as long -- this happens a lot when an AVI is using certain forms of compressed audio. You need to de-compress the audio to WAV or PCM and then convert that file. Try using the AVI Audio Decompressor utility that comes with AVI2VCD or use the AVI2WAV. After running one of these utilities, the resulting file will contain compressed video and decompressed audio. Just use it with TMPEGnc as the input video and audio file and all should be fine.

I would really suggest DVD2SVCD (it also converts AVI to VCD or SVCD) as it is a great "front-end" to TMPEGnc or CCE and provides automated facilities to decompress audio and normalize, etc. Great if you want impressive results and want to be shielded from the "guts" of what needs to happen.

    Good luck !!
