I'm in the process of a motherboard, CPU, memory upgrade and I'm thinking about getting the Intel - D875PBZLK motherboard and chipset. This motherboard has SATA150 (1.5Gb/s) (2 ports) RAID 0 Support7 and ATA100/66. I currently have only IDE ATA/100 HDs. Can I run this system with and boot from the IDE HDs? Can I run this system without any serial ATA HDs for the moment?

Not familiar with that board, but the one I use has SATA and RAID and I boot from the regular IDE bus. I shut off the SATA in bios, but that is probably not necessary. You can generally set up the bios to boot from almost any drive hooked to the MB. To really answer your question, you may be able to download the MB manual from Intel, which is a good idea anyway before you spend money on the board. Another good source for MB information is http://www.motherboards.org/ or do a Google search.

There are IDE to SATA adapters as well as SATA to IDE adapters.
You could get the one you need if you wish/need to place them on one of the 2 SATA controllers
