  1. Alright. Here is the problem I'm currently faced with.

I have an AVI file that is encoded with Divx. Standard stuff and is of great quality. I seperated the audio and saved to a WAV using Virtual Dub. I booted up TMPEGEnc and grabbed the AVI and WAV then did the encode into MPEG. Everything there went fine.

File ended up coming out with:

    Video: 534 MB, 1150 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 352*240 (4:3), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD)
    Audio: Audio : 104 MB, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

So, the encode turned out fine. Now, I have tried burning said Mpg file usin two applications. One of which was VCDEasy. The result from VCDEasy was a disc that, while it played, produced playback that was very bad. The video would freeze every minute or so.. sometimes less. The sound would continue playing, though, despite the video being behind. It would catch up with itself and play in-sync for a minute.. two at MOST.. then go back to the video being frozen and audio still going.

I, being irritated by this, decided to use Nero instead. I burned the disc first at the max speed my burner has which is 12x. Same result as with VCDEasy. I tried at 8x. Same result. I tried again with 4x. Same result.

I know the MPEG works fine because it is flawless as it plays on my PC, but getting it over to VCD is the problem.

Oh, I'm also trying to play the disc on an Apex AD 1100-W.

What is the problem here? Is my encode not right after all, or am I not burning correctly? : |

Have you tried a different brand of media yet? Nothing seems wrong with you encoding.
    Hello.

  3. Heh.. yeah. I'm using Imation media, by the way. I had a feeling that MAYBE it was the media I'm using, but uh.. the thing is. All I have is the Imation and I have like two spools of 100 cds.. so. :\

So, the encode is good, and the burning is okay.. maybe just the media is crap?

  4. Anyone? Do I just need to try a different media or what ?

  5. So, I noticed that any time I burn a movie that is in the .BIN format.. it works perfectly on the player.. whether it be VCD or SVCD. Could converting the MPEG over to .BIN with a .CUE and burning it work..?

  6. I'd suggest just buying a small pack of rewriteables - always handy for testing various ideas and scenarios.
