    Wow.
I rip my own CDs, and have a recording studio. I use Xing's software to save my PCM audio to MP3 for distrubution.

I just got into Video editing using Virtual Dub, and DivX Pro, a capture card, etc.

I want to encode the PCM audio to MP3, but I have very limited choices in the "Audio Compression" menu in Virtual Dub.

I've seen screenshots that have many more Layer3 options.

    Where can I download/buy (?) a good, recommended MP3 codec.

    I thank you in advance.

  2. Of all MP3 engines out there, the Xing is by far the worse. Even at highest bitrates and quality modes, their MP3 files were inferior to other compressors.

What you need is the "Radium MP3 codec".

Head over to this link and download it:

  3. exact audio copy EAC does a good job. Also LAME is highly thought of, I reckon there must be quite a few more. ssrc. search for mp3 encoders?
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  4. EAC rips audio from CD. You'll still need an audio codec if you want to compress.

LAME is the best, but I couldn't find links to their windows codec, only stand alone command line util.

What he needs is a windows codec so it'll show up in VirtualDub

Is it possible to use the Xing stuff as a front end to the Radium codec?

  6. Xing is stand alone MP3 encoding application, so no.
