  1. Can anybody please help me. I have used both premiere 6.0 and 6.5
for a while now. But both programs don`t save my projects.

If i make a short movie and save it (in both versions), the first 2 or 3 times there is no problem. But if i open it after a while (1 or 2 days)
everything is gone??? All the files are renamed to -1 in the bins (not the original files) and my timeline is empty again.

Does anybody know how to solve this ? It is getting pretty irritating !

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. Hi!

This problem is common with Premiere.
The error usually occures when you have saved your project more than 5 times.

To solve: Change the number of savings per project:
Edit -> Preferences -> Auto save and undo... -> Maximum Project Versions : 99
    &
Edit -> Preferences -> Auto save and undo... -> Maximum Files in Archive: 999

That should help for a while. So, after you've saved the project more than 99 times, the problem can occure once more.

All I can say is if you follow this work ethic it will work

You must not import files from all around your hard drive instead, copy or move all files to be used in the poject to one file folder on your hard drive
This way when you re-open an unfinshed-in-progress project, premier can find all the files in a jiffy

AVID does this by copying over anything you import to its own version
    of the file..by default
this will make PREMIERE work like a poor mans avid....This is slightly weaker..but works almost as well

  6. Is AVID also an editing program..?
I don`t know that program, is it a good alternative for premiere ?

AVID is the first method of building a VIDEO PROGRAM in Non Linear Fashion on a Computer in 1991
AVID is what most TELEVISION is produced with
AVID DV EXPRESS is a $1000 version for use with DV footage
the AVID for "Serial Digital Interface" from DIGI-BETA or from Hi-Def source is possibly 10-50x that depending on configuration.

    try this

  8. This is much more then an alternative for premier..
Think it is about 100 times better...
But i am afraid it is a little above my budget.

    Are there any cheaper alternatives?

I had the problem too, had to do something with using mp3 files in your project. Check this link, maybe it can be some use for someone:

I have both UVS6 and Adobe Premiere 6, Tommy Knocker recently sent me a wonderful guide for edition on UVS6, but unfortunately I've just realized it crashes on long MPEG-2 files...

So, maybe I'd try Premiere, as I already have it, but its manual and help files are definitely TOO confusing, all I need to know are :

    1) To trim a video - cut out comercials

    2) fade in out to from black screen

Someone posted a guide on how to make transitions between two clips, I think I can try it, the problem is that I don't know how to trim out the big file into many smaller ones without comercials, does anyone have a guide ?

    Thanks,

    Andre

To trim a video - cut out comercials
Look at the tools in premiere, instead of the POINTER tool choose the razor blade..
Then tske the razor blade and apply it dirctly to the fram on the timeline you want to split both audio and video at..
Then right click the part to be removed, as it will now be a seperate entity
on the right click menu ...choose either clear (removers only the clip) or RIPPLE DELETE which pulls up..all clips afterward will not come to the edit point
    hope this helps

Sorry about all the typos.. I meant to say "all clips afterward will now come to the edit point.. not
all clips afterward will not come to the edit point
For fade to black..do the following..Make a Black Tiff 720 x480 in a graphics program.. Import this item to the project.. now drag it from the list of clips to the time line.. by grabbing either end of it, you can extend the size (or length) of the black

Put it on the "B" time line look at pic belo

now go to transitions list FIND CROSS DISSOLVE and drag this to the spot on the timeline inbetween your VIDEO (on the "A" timeline)
and your black clip on the "B" timeline...
