  3. depends on the release of the PS2 some do and some don't. For what it's worth, I have a Japanese first release and an American first release PS2 and they both play +R discs but not +RW. I don't have a -R drive, so I cannot comment on those.

  7. the ps2 can play both the DVD-R and DVD+R but not DVD-RW or DVD+RW

the difference is that on my ps2 DVD+R boots up 2-4 seconds than DVD-R apart from that both formats work well!

I think it depends on which model/laser PS2 you have. I have seen posts from people who can not get any +R to work.

Modding sites online show you how to determine which version you have. That might help in tracking down the info.

there are 113 reports as of today. Some owners have detailed which version they have and what works, doesn't work. :c)

My PS2 bought last year plays all +/- R and RW. But older models may not.

  9. the ps2 plays both DVD-/+R but not DVD-/+RW

but +R boots up 2-4 seconds faster than -R on my ps2 apart from that both work well whilst watching the movie.

the DVD brand i use are TDK and JVC (DVD-/+R)

my ps2 was from the first shipment of ps2s to the UK

  10. My v5 PAL PS2 supports my Princo 4x DVD-Rs.

    Haven't tried DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW tho.

    Be someone's hero. :c)

Anyone who knows their PS2 version and which discs work/don't work can help other owners by posting their findings in the database (link above).

That info's permanent and easy to find, unlike this thread that'll eventually end up buried and hard to find.

  12. The new ps2s play any format. What version ps2? Turn on your ps2, VERSION appears on the screen, read it.
