check out DVD Shrink and some of it's guides.

you can selectively take out subtitles & audio streams you don't need, as well as selectively compressing the video and menus until it will fit on one disc.

you can also find out if it has a pcm audio stream and an identical ac3 stream - you can get rid of the pcm stream and save a ton of space.

Let me ask you a question . Are you using the default size for your disc ? When I use DVD2One the file size comes out to 4.36 Gigs no matter how big the initial file is . Did you change the target size ? . 4.36 Gigs is about the maximum you can fit on a DVDR .
Keep it on the big cam !

  5. hey housepig thanks for the info but i was more thinking off DELETING some off the vobs that are not nessary again all i need is the movie and the main menu. as for your Q vtecwil i changed mine to 4072 because even when i use dvd2one to encode the whole movie it was coming out slightly bigger than 4.36gigs and could not fit on dvd-r , wish i can get em to fit at 4.36gigs though

  7. DVD Shrink V3.0 Beta will find the DVD and open with a 'pre shrunk' project ready for you to just 'GO' with it. This new version is more automatic, but retains all the manual controls and adjustments anyone might need.

DVD Shrink V2.3 is 'manual'. You must decide what needs compressed and to what extents. It has the 'size' bar at the top of the screen showing project size and how much it's still to big, but it offers no automatic adjustments.

If you're wanting to 'delete' parts of the DVD movie, with either version, you just 'unselect' the parts you won't want. I usually get rid of all the different languages and subtitles. I sometimes clip off the end credits. You can even increase compression on various parts of the movie if you like. You can even bring in only a short clip of the movie or a trailer or a menu if that's all you want off of it. Thats completely up to you.

I don't understand why you would rip a 9G DVD to your hard drive(?) then compress it to fit a DVD. Why not shrink it on the way in.....
