  1. I am confused by the multiple posts on this subject. Could someone (anyone) help me. I just purchased a E80. What is the easiest/best/cheapest way for me to copy the DVD titles I already own? I travel alot and don't want to risk damaging the titles I value. All replies are appreciated.

  2. easiest way is to buy pc dvd burner for around $150. This way you can save time. The other way would be to buy dvd player that has the macrovision disabled. You won't be able to record your dvd movie to your dvd recorder otherwise because macrovision protection would prevent you. So what you need to do is diable macrovision & rce protection and connect to you dvd recorde via rca or s-video and record away.

Go to this site to get more info on what type of dvd player to buy:

I had (sold it) an apex 1500 which had macrovision and I believed they called it rce protection disabled. You had to buy a model that ended w/ A,B,C OR D to disable this feature. Some dvd players you can disable the protection w/ a remote control. Good luck

  3. Remember the DMR e80 will only copy the film as you play it. (IE you wont have menus n extras unless you actully physically play and record them)

I have a DVD writer on my PC so rarely use the DVD to DVD Recorder method but occasionally do if i have a troublesome discs or maybe I want to convert from NTSC to PAL.

  4. I just bought an e80 as well and am doing the same thing you're asking about. I record my movies to the hard drive, then burn them to dvd-r in high-speed dub mode. From what I've read here, it prevents the e80 from re-encoding which would reduce video quality.

In order to copy a store bought dvd, you need a macrovision remover of some sort. It installs in seconds by simply unplugging the video in to your recorder and plugging it into the clarifier, then getting a video out from the clarifier into your recorder. Because of all that I read here, I chode the facetvideo.com clarifier. It works perfect on both vhs and store bought dvd videos. It's $102 shipped and to me is worth every penny since it works as it's suppose to.

    Good luck!
