tmpeg plus v2.59 doesn't support encoded audio file

I'm new to ripping. Im trying to make vcds and svcds using dvd2svcd v1.2.1 build 3 but to no avail. My plus version doesn't support the encoded audio file. My INPUT FILE is DVD and my OUTPUT FILE is VCD/SVCD. I have aspi drivers v4.6 installed properly. I'm running xp on a p4 2.4 ghz. Is my tmpeg plus missing something or do I need a different version? Please help.

no, all versions support audio. In dvd2svcd the audio is handled by an outside program anyway. recheck your settings. (dvd2svcd)

reset all to default and you should be good to go. Check the output with a CDrw or software DVD player (windvd)
audio tab in dvd2svcd.

Sounds to me like you are trying to make VCD and/or SVCD backup copies from your DVD discs.

Well since no one has mentioned it yet I guess I have too ...

TMPGEnc will not accept AC-3 audio as an input. Since you say you are new to ripping then that is why I guess you are converting DVD to VCD/SVCD and you are probably running the ripped VOB files through DVD2AVI and getting a D2V project file and your AC-3 audio files.

Well you need to convert your AC-3 audio to a 2 channel stereo and/or mono WAV file.

Then you can feed TMPGEnc the D2V for the video and the WAV file for you the audio.

Sounds to me right now that your problem is trying to feed the AC-3 file to TMPGEnc when that will not work.

Best thing is to have DVD2AVI demux the AC-3 file(s) then convert that to a WAV using HeadAC3he or BeSweet.

I've done it. TMPGEnc Plus 2.520.x and the AC-3 codec, reads just fine, converted the audio to MP2 audio just fine too and made it directly into a VCD. Was an AVI file with AC3 source.

What do you mean by AC-3 codec? I have the AC-3 filter which BSPlayer and other such media players use to play back AVI files MUXED with AC-3 audio and it works fine but I can't import AC-3 into TMPGEnc.

Anyway I don't care because I'd never do this anyway. These days I don't do VCD or SVCD but DVD which of course supports AC-3 so I would never want to convert my AC-3 to LPCM or MP2 anyways.

But for those who need to do this then it might be helpfull LORDSMURF if you could give more details about it or a link to the AC-3 codec that is needed etc.

Thanks guys for your replies. Yeap, I'm making vcd/svcds. Anyways, I encoded the encoded audio file manually and it worked. I changed version to 2.58plus. I hope it will do automatically.

It's a codec that is installed on your system like any other (Divx, XVID, etc). It a 213kb exe file. If you want it, go to www.lordsmurf.com and e-mail me, and I'll respond with the attachment.

I have no idea where it came from. I got it from a family member. It appears to be freeware and simply adds AC3 support to Windows Media Player and is system-wide, including TMPGEnc. Had no problems at all. I do not know where to download it. I renamed the file I have, because what I got was ac3.exe or something.

Note, this is a decoder only, not an encoder. To encode, you'll need ac3enc.dll with Besweet or use SF SoftEncode. But the decoder lets you use AC3 audio and convert to WAV or MP2 with no problems in TMPGEnc.
