Hi, Chrissyboy!
Yesterday I encountered a truly strange behaviour from SVCD2DVD.
I had recorded a 116 minute movie in PAL SVCD format. Total length 2.16 Gb. It played well and was perfectly in sync from beginning to end.
I made it the first in a group of three movies, the other two being MPEG-1 VCD format recordings of ca 950 Mb each. I made separate VTSs for the three movies, with 15 min chapters.
When I tried to play the 48kHz _DVD version of the SVCD format recording produced by SCVD2DVD, which was 2.147.483.648 bytes (2Gb) in length, it started about 10 minutes from the end of the original movie, and, according to WinDVD, had only three chapters, the length of which I could not determine. The second "chapter" was a scene not quite at the start of the original. Moreover, all of it was clearly about a second out of sync.
Afterwards, I ran the original through TmpgEnc+ and changed it into an MPEG-1 VCD format file of 1.12 Gb, which again contained the whole movie in sequence and was perfectly in sync. But I had not recorded it in SVCD format for nothing. I wanted the better image quality. The re-encoding did not improve matters either.
What could have gone wrong?
Callan
