  1. Hello all I've been looking around the forums and could not find anything that could help my current situation therefore I'm posting this to get some additional help.

I own an ATI AIW 7500
    Windows 2000
    P4 2.53 GHz
    Intel integrated audio card
    MMC 8.7
    Updated drivers
    DAO / MDAC
DVD decoder won't install without new cd
    Capture Via Composite

I have the input set as Line In and can hear audio when playing the video but when I capture I get absolutely nothing comes to audio. Before it had worked on my windows XP but that dumb OS keeps messing up my DLs so I got rid of and is using my backup OS 2000 and well ever since ever it had never worked on this OS so I was wondering if anyone could help me out?

Also I have the same problem with my ATI AIW 128 PRO
    Win XP
    PIII 700 MHz
    Sound Blaster 64
    Updated Drivers
    MMC 7.1
    Capture via Composite
    S-Video to Line-in for sound(error audio-encoder when capture)
If anyone have any clues as to how to fix these problems I greatly appreciate it thank you in advance.

Perhaps you need to read the bible according to LORDSMURF

    P.S.
Although I must say this seems like a REALLY basic question ... are you sure you haven't exhausted the user guide that came with your AIW cards? I only say that because it sounds like a simple hook-up problem that I'm sure the user guide/manual would cover.

I agree. Read the setup manual. It is either miswired, or the Windows/ATI volume controls have something on mute. Also, in ATI MMC, under INITIALIZATION WIZARD, you must set the input you're using (LINE IN, AUX, WHAT U HEAR, ETC).

  4. Also, did you install the little audio wire that goes from the AIW to your sound card? I have the 7500. It looks, and is, just like the cable that runs from the cd rom to the sound card.

That's the internal method. There is also an external method with the LINE IN cable from the output bundle.

Just pick one. I use whichever sounds cleanest.

No. It's 8.6 with a fix for the MMC timer. Has some other stuff fixed too with Hydravision and all that extra junk I never use. Should have been 8.6.1 or something... but they go the full x.x system at ATI.

Yea, this was a stupid thing I overlooked a few years back with my second ATI card.
Check your Soundcard's audio software (Cteative or whatever you're using) and double check all your volume controls - notice there is a display for both Playback controls and Recording controls.
It usually desplays the Playback volume controls, so go under View and select Recorder - that's what I overlooked.

Make sure the Line-In or whater source you're audio is coming from isn't muted and the volume is turned up.

Keep the display open while recording, 'cause mine had a bad habit of muting itself each time I closed the control displays.

That you are already hearing the sound before you playback your captures, would mean you have everything hooked up right...just need to check all the volume controls.
Sounds exactly what I was going through then

  9. Try this:

Open the TV program (if you don't then the volume settings in Windows will likely be different than when the program is closed)

Click on the volume icon in the taskbar (if it's not there, go to the Control Panel and find the icon to get the multimedia tabs open. Since I don't use Win2K, I don't know where exactly to find it).

Open the volume control panel and look at the line in and see if the slider is up and make sure that the mute ckeck box is not selected.

Go to Options -> Properties and where it say "adjust volume for" select Recording and click OK. This will open another volume panel where adjustments for recording will appear.

See if Line In is selected and if the slider is up.

    Hope this helps.
