  3. Extract the mpeg using IsoBuster (or whatever method you prefer). De-multiplex, convert audio to 48Khz. As long as the VCD is NTSC at 29.976fps or PAL at 25fps you can now simply author the DVD with the video and 48khz audio. Unfortuntaley if the video is NTSCfilm, you have to re-encode in which case you WILL lose some quality.

  4. If you want to re-encode to DVD resoultion, then use Tmpgenc encode it and author , this way, quality will worsen and not good. My perferred way is author VCD into DVD ( there is a guide in here somewhere show you how by using Tmpg DVD Author method ). You will get exact quality as VCD but instead watching it on DVD. Also, you can put like 6 VCD in 1 DVD, so rooughly about 6 hour of VCD movie ( no quality loss ) into 1 DVDR.

    Hope this help

  5. thats what im trying to do, put like 4 or 5 eps onto a dvd,,

so ya know I can watch one after another an not have to get up an ehect 1 disc , then put in another,, an so on, [yeah Im gettin lazy,]

Im not much worried about quality as long as I dont loose too much,

all i wanna do is I guess 'rip' it to my hard drive,
    actually I got like 4 or 5 I need 2 rip,,

then burn em all on to dvd,,

there already mpeg an all that,
an i dont need it to be in dvd mode or whatever,

I'm useing MYdvd [its what came with my dvdrburner]

So basiclly Im putting a vcd format onto a dvd disc,

but what will I need 2 do,

as far as demultiplexing, an converting audio an all that,, Im lost!

''why, quality will stay the same or worsen ''
I know that , im just trying to get alot more onto 1 disc,
see ive got like 20vcd's [or more] with like tv eps on em, or movies that up to like 2 or 3 cd's,

so I want to tranfsfer all that to dvd,,

another thing , some dvd players wont play vcd;s
    but will play dvd;s,
like ps2's xboxs, an some of those exspensive dvd plauers,

like apex, norcent etc. will play em

but ive got a pioneer in my living room that wont play em
it just says 'no disc' or something like that

    bryan_b26,

What you're trying to do should work to fit you needs. If MYDVD will do the audio conversion, let it. It shouldn't make much of a difference for TV episodes. In fact, even using TMPGENC (to merge the movies peices) for re-encoding the audio should work just fine.

For the movies (as I said above), I'd suggest getting TMPGENC, using its merge/cut tool, and putting the movies together in one mpeg file. This will allow you to see the movie in its entirety on the DVD. Might even be able to put 2-3 movies on one DVD if the sizes are right. At VCD resolution, you should be able to fit about 6-7hrs on a DVD.

Either way, the video quality will be the same as you have now if you don't reencode the video. That is, as long as its a true VCD and not some xVCD.
    Have a good one,

  9. OK , ill try an make this alot simpler for us all,
    \1st of all
i appreciate everyones insights and advice
I really do, an Ive checked em all out
but i think really what i need to do is ask 1 simple question ,an see if i can take it from there,

ok, lets say i got a vcd file thru a torrent or other p2p of some kind,
    then I burnt it onto a cd-r
    then I deleted the file,

what do I need to do to get the file from the cd-r BACK to my hard drive to where I can take out the CDr,
and have the file back like it was on my hard drive the way i got it?

    what should i use ?

some kinda VCD ripper or what?
will wmp simply do it , from the 'copy from cd' thing?

See if i could just put the file back in my hard drive like it was,

    I'd be fine,
I could figure out every thing else from there,
    like encode,whatever
I can deal with all that

    thats all i wanna know,,

    thanks alot everybody

Your question was answered and all you have to do is read the replies, after you extract the you will have a DAT file i believe and all you have to do is rename the extension to mpg. So you will have an original mpeg file like you wanted, ive never authored a dvd but i imagine all you need to do is re-encode to dvd mpeg with tmpgenc.

But to do it the right way for sure simply read the replies you got or read a guide.

  12. ok thanks ,

i was just a lil confuzed,

i thought isobuster just did something different,

[like my signature at the bottom says,
brain cellz are few an far between]

see all that vob, dat, yad yad yada is greek to me,

but yeah, now i see what your saying,,

so i just rename the dat to mpeg?

so i just right click it an hit 'RENAME'
an just stick .mpg on the end?

    ok thanks all

    If you just want to get the file of the VCD back to the hard drive then;
    1. insert the VCD into the computer
    2. open the disk and go to the MPEGAV directory
    3. copy the file AVSEQ01.DAT and any subquent files in this diretory to your hard drive
    4. rename the suffix from .DAT to .MPG

    Hope this helps.
