  1. Dear all, I have bought a WinFast TV card – the 2000 XP Expert.

    My system - Win XP, P4 2.6g, 512 RAM.

After buying I have found my Sony DRU-510A burner is not compatible so I can’t direct burn TV recordings.

    My questions are:

    1. If it’s possible to direct burn why can't I capture TV recordings to my hard disc as VOB, ISO and BUP files ready for immediate burning. is it possible to avoid rendering time ?

    2. Does anyone know if there is a patch I can use to make the Sony compatible so I can direct burn?

Thank you in advance – there are some great pieces of advice I have already taken from you all – so thanks for that too.

Your DVD Burner, same one I have, will do direct burn from TV source using Intervideo's DVDR3. A better approach is to capture in Full DVD High Res (MPEG-2). No rendering is required by doing this. Using TMPGEnc go to file >MPEG Tools and Click De-Multiplex. Then click browse to add your mpeg-2 file. Double click the video_stream oxoo and save to whatever file you choose. The extension should be .m2v. The stream will now be saved to your file. Do the same with the audio_stream oxoo, but when you go to save it manually change it to an .mpa extension. Now open up IFOEdit and click the DVD Author tab at the top. Add the mtv and mpa files to Video and Audio by clicking the square boxes to the right of the dialogue box. Have an empty folder ready for the output stream destination at the bottom. These files will be what you burn using Nero. If it is Nero 6 add them to the VIDEO_TS folder. If you need to shrink the file or edit out commericails, use DVD Shrink to do that by using the start/end editing feature built in. Version 2.3 accepts IFOEDit's files. This process takes me less than 30 minute complete. No audi/video snyc problems and excellent quality. No rendering or a long wait process will occur using this method. Good luck.
