My unit sometimes just stops after starting to load the mpeg2 file but other times it loads and plays fine -
What I do I have a sat. card and record on my harddisc movies etc in mpg format, which I afterward burn on a dvd-rw. These dvds I watch without any problems on my stand alone dvd player mark yamada which I bought for around 60 euros. If I could use the udf formatted dvd. I could burn directly on the dvd and so cutting out one step...the harddisk.

Yay!!!!! Now that LiteOn has broken the taboo against playing anything from DVD media besides Properly Authored DVD-Forum-Blessed DVDs™, I suspect that playback of DivX/MPEG-4, WM9, and anything resembling a valid MPEG-2 or 1 file will be the norm on low-end (but loaded) DVD players from companies like LiteOn and Apex.
If I were to place my bets, I'd wager that players supporting EITHER WM9 OR MPEG-4/DivX will rapidly give way to players supporting both... Ultimately, I think WM9 will emerge as the initial codec of choice for high-quality (480p60 and 720p60) content, but MPEG-4/DivX will be the first to bring 1080p24 home.
Why?
DivX/MPEG-4 is perfectly capable of 480p60/720p60 8,000kbit/sec encoding, but there's a definite, noticeable cultural bias against high bitrate encoding in that particular camp at the moment. HOWEVER, I suspect that the WM9 camp will then be so busy riding WM9's easy early dominance over 480p60 that 1080p24 will emerge as the "killer app" for DivX/MPEG-4 application authors. -
rubbish! people hate M$osft so much that they will spit on wm9 and just use divx. One step click software for the masses is needed tho, like dr. divx and MS can provide that free. Or maybe I'm saying this because my new player doesnt support wm9. They will also add too much drm for most peoples taste.
OH yeah my dvx6100 will play raw mpg files from a std cdr and also presumably from a DVD.Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
