    I've used several settings featuring 16:9 aspexct ratio capturing. Once captured I tried to create a dvd using DVD Lab and the program complaind that the mpeg was not compliant.

    Will the 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio affect DVD compliance?

    You have to capture your 16:9 video in 720x480 resolution (it will look squished when played).
