Converted a DivX to MPEG2 for DVD and it got as far as making the MPEG2 movie which was perfect until the last 5 minutes. At this point the ffmpegX Progress app gave the following error:

    INFO: [mplex] Video e0: buf= 237568 frame=000000 sector=00000000
    INFO: [mplex] Audio c0: buf= 4096 frame=000000 sector=00000000
++ WARN: [mplex] File size exceeded before split-point in video stream
INFO: [mplex] Starting new output file...
**ERROR: [mplex] Need to split output but there appears to be no %d in the filename pattern /Users/alex/Desktop/movie.mpg

Can someone please let me know what went wrong? Cheers

    (Am using v0.0.9 on 10.2.8)

  2. Probably bug on my side.. to help spot it, please tell me if you have used the "Split in Auto chunks" option, or which other.

The only post processing option I used was "Author for DVD (VIDEO_TS)" and "keep elementary streams".
Thanks for being so prompt with a reply

  4. Also could you please tell me whether "Decode with mplayer" was enabled, or not. And finally the information about the input file, and the size in GB of the encoded .m2v file.

Yes, the "Decode with mplayer" was enabled.

    Thje input file was : DivX 5, size: 640x480, 25.000 fps, 818 kbps. AUDIO: mp3, 48000Hz, 56 kbps.
    and about 680MB

    The final .mpg was 1.25GB

    Hope this helps

I am having the same problem trying to encod a VIDEO_TS folder to a 4GB DVD. I am using the DVD hi-bitrate Quick Preset and trying to keep it in 1 CD of DVD 4GB. The Bitrate Calculator estimates an output size of 3207 MB. I don't understand why it would need to split the output file. I may be doing something wrong. Please help!?

  7. In your case the audio size could probably make the file bigger than 4GB, though the preceding report stated a file size less than 2GB, so there should be another issue. I'm checking and trying to figure out.

  8. I encoded the same movie last night and set it to split into auto chunks and both files when combined were well under 4GB. I joined the two files together, which went well, and I tried to author the output file as DVD the the program locked up. Basically it started the process and created the output folder but never went past that point. It's not a big deal as long as I've got the movie encoded, but does anyone know the command line string to do the dvd author. I need the movie to be mpeg-2, 720x480, 23.976 fps w/3:2 pulldown, mp2 audio at 48000Hz, 224 kb. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
