I am looking at buying a new camcorder, a digital HI8, with a DV link.
Can anyone advise me on the type of firewire card required for capturing video to my pc. I would like to burn the video to dvd eventually as well.
Many thanks
Ian

A firewire card is a firewire card. not much difference between them. try provantage.com for the adaptec card at a decent price. comes bundles with some software, not sure if the software is any good or not though.

I bought the adaptec card for £14.99 on ebay. Can't go wrong.

there is a lot of differance -- believe me .. the best ones are still the ADS firewire cards (which are still the only ones Avid certifies), and sony vegas recommends.

It's hard to go wrong with an Adaptec card. SCSI/USB/Firewire is what they do.
