  1. It's me, Clement.

I'm a bit frustrated. I can't seem to figure out how to translate a wmv file to an mpeg. Using ffmpegx, I can translate the wmv video into an mpeg4 file, which I can then translate into an mpeg1 video stream.

But I cannot, for the life of me, get the audio to encode. Ffmpegx (the only program that even wants to try) can't encode the audio to any of the formats it offers. My only solution would be to use Wire Tap to capture the audio from Windows Media Player, and then chop off the beginning and the end (of dead space) using QT Pro before using MMT to encode the aiff as an mp2.

But there has to be a better way.

If anybody has solved this problem or has any suggestions, I'd be most grateful.

    Many thanks,
    Clement

    Download Mplayer for OS X.

If Mplayer will PLAY your .wmv file with video and sound, then you can use ffmpegX and/or Mencoder to convert it to a usuable format, its just a matter of tweaking the settings.

if it will NOT play in MPlayer, you are out of luck and will have to use VPC.

    Sorry.
