  1. Hi All,

I have just bought a new Philips 622 DVD player and I am well impressed so far. I have tried a couple of SVCD's on different CD's and they all worked fine.

I have also tried a disc with 8 mp3 albums on it, and these also played fine apart from a handful of tracks....No filenames displayed tho' ?

Anyone else out there have one of these players ? I am interested in hearing from you as I am quite new to all this stuff and would like to know what software/settings you use when creating SVCD/XVCD, for the best quality etc.

Or if there are any other issues I should know about with this player ( while I can still take it back! )

    Regards,

    Mike

  2. I have the Philips 612s which is almost the same as the 622 except it doesnt play MPŁ and is in a Silver case instead of black.

It too is my first step into the world of DVD and I'm impressed so far. I recently made my first SVCD and I had a few problems with the sound during playback on the Philips (but not on the PC) .... see http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=59850&forum=3

As far as problems, the only one I have had so far was when I put a data disk in by mistake. This player has the ability to remember 5 disks and Resume play where it left off when you last played the disk. I had put in a CD-RW which was recorded as a VCD disk and played half of the movie and then removed it. I then erased this disk and put a data track on it (a backup of some other stuff). By mistake, I later put this disk back in the player and it locked up.
I can only assume it recognised the disk (suprised me since I had erase it before putting new stuff on it) and then tried to resume play. I could not open the tray to remove it. Every time I powered off and on, the thing would auto play. In the end, I left it powered off for 10 minutes and when I switched it back on, quickly pressed the open button and snatched the disk back.
Apart from that, no other problems.
