I am a newbie and so far I have burned 3 movies to TDK 2x DVD-R using Nero 6.x with my LG GSA-4040B with out any problem. I can read the disk in all my players in the house. Over the weekend I bought some Memorex 4x DVD+R (On Sale) and tried to burn another movie using Nero 6.x and my LG drive. I followed the same steps as the others and had no errors burning the disk, but now I can't read the disk at all in any drive. Both CPU DVD drives and 2 DVD players in the house. What am I missing??? Do I need to perform extra steps for different media types? Where can I find more info about this??? Help. I really don't want to make any more coasters!!!

It's probably due to your Memorex media is not compatible with your LG burner.
Not sure if anyone out there also encountered the same problem. I bought a batch of CMC DVD+R and burned 3 of them with my Ricoh MP5125A. Got the same results as what you described. Using the same batch, I burned another 3 of them with the Pioneer A06 and all came out readable on my standalone DVD player and PC DVD-ROM.
Try burning your Memorex with another brand of burner (probably a friend's); or try with another brand of media.
Cheers.

Well I have the exact same problem too.
Using Princo, Melody, and Shintaro 4x DVD -R media, only a few of them are playable using my NEC DV5800A DVD ROM but strangely all of them are playable using other brands of DVD ROM.
When I use DVD X COPY and XPRESS no DVD -R is playable using my NEC DVD ROM but when I started to use DVD Shrink and then use Copy To DVD, some of them are playable using my NEC DVD ROM.
I think the problem lies in the media and the software that we use to burn these DVD -R. -
I posted this on another forum and had some feedback that there could be an issue with Nero 6.x burning DVD+R. I am going to try a different burning software tonight to see if that helps. The point about the media is valid too but Nero didn't have any errors or issues burning the disk. It is only after the fact that I can't read it. It says it is the wrong format when I put it in my DVD-ROM drive.

I used the Maxell 4x DVD+R with DVD X Copy Xpress and it was successfully burned but neither my LG 4040B, Sony DVD Rom, Panasonic RP82, DMR-E50 or Pioneer DV-414 would read it and come up with an error message.
The same Maxell 4x DVD+Rs used with Nero 6.0.0.19 (for DVD Shrink files) with no problems at all also used with Verbatim 2.4x DVD+RW with no problems.
I hate DVD X Copy
Long live Nero!
