Sometimes VirtualDub gives me a report about a not quite correct audio
stream and recommends " .......recompress with a constant bitrate encoder (bitrate 103.1 +/- 19.1 Kbs)." What does this exactly mean?
All what I could find so far was a Sample Rate Converter , but constant bitrate encoder? Who could enlighten me?![]()

Thanks for the hint, but I tried this already: extracted the audio stream, converted it into PCM 44,1KHz 16 Bit Stereo and muxed it again
with VirtualDub. Even though audio and video stream had the same length
the picture and sound were not lip-synchrone.So I split the AVI into three parts and worked them over with the Interleaving option and
then joined them again to achieve at least a halfway satisfying result.
Is this already the wisdoms last conclusion? -
What are you trying to do? Take out the audio, remux them back into avi then cut the avi ,to what purpose? Can you be more specific so that some of us may give you a better alternative.

Question No1 was, what is the meaning of the VirtualDub-Report "VitualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding................decompress the "entire" audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder (bitrate:103.1 +/- 19.1Kbs)..
Question No 2 was, even after creating an uncompressed WAV file,
where audio- and video-stream had then the same length, while muxing
it again, the sound was coming still before the picture. What now?
Question No3, where do I make use of the information "(bitrate
103.1 +/- 19.1Kbs)"?
For your information. splitting the Avi file into 3 sections and working them over with the Interleaving-option and three different Preload values, was only the last solution to get the sound approx. lip-synchrone. :P -
@twinsbc
Are you dealing with an Xvid AVI?
I'm in the middle of the same (or similar) problem, after joining the AVI with the "uncompressed" WAV the lipsync is gone and it seems to get worse near the end of the AVI.
Are you dealing with the same problem here? -
Sorry, I can't remember DivX or Xvid, but that shouldn't matter.
The effect was the same as you describe.
Use VirtualDub and with the Interleaving-option try different Preload values. You can then cut the file into sections where the audio is lipsynchrone and join them later via append again. Sorry, no better advice, but at least I saved my movie like that in a acceptable quality. :P
