  1. Hi

I have a Adaptec AVC-2310 USB DEVICE I have it connected to my pc software installed... Got it working etc..

The trouble is the picture is grainy does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of the grain.. The singal is comng from Sky which is in the lounge you see Sky comes into all the bedrooms and I wanted to use that signal to go into my pc so I can recored Sky onto my pc... Could it be the arieal lead on the device itself I have ran out of ideas the picture of Sky is fine in the other rooms...

Any ideas would be most helpful..

    Thank you

No ideas as I don't use what you use.

But some friendly - hopefully helpful - advice. Go back into your original post, click edit, and change the title of your post subject to reflect your question. Like "grainy captures".

A lot of very helpful people here might skip over posts that just say "help" and go to others where they know what the problem is before even looking.

    Good luck. :c)
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts.

  3. Not sure how much help I'm going to be able to be..

I assume you mean a USB device.

Have you tried watching the SKY feed on a TV in the same room as the PC? That might tell you a bit more about whether the cabling is to blame for the poor quality.

Another point to think about is that your PC monitor is likely to be a lot less forgiving than a TV is. Maybe the quality is just the same, but the noise shows up more on the monitor than it does on TV screens.

What do you plan to do with the stuff you capture? You could try encoding a small sample and burning it to (S)VCD/DVD (on a RW disc maybe), and watching it on a standalone & TV screen. Maybe try some noise filters - which you often have to use with captured material. What does that look like?

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

If it's not a USB2 it doesn't have enough bandwidth
to carry a Video signal without compression, and
it might have a poor compressor.
I have a camera like that.
