  1. Using Smart Ripper V 2.34 I ripped a copy of Spy Kids and used DVD2AVI V. 1.76 to convert the .VOB files to the .D2V and .WAV files for creation of a VCD. However, when using using TMPG Encoder V. 12.i to convert the files to MPEG I noted that the new MPEG files had about every 5th or 6th frame out of sequence with that frame jumping backward slightly.

    Any Ideas what I may have done wrong or suggestions to correct.

    I have done several VCD and have had virtually no problems. However, I did rip a movie once and about the last 10 minutes or so was not recognized by Smart Ripper.

    Thanks for any help.

  2. Did you use the forcefilm option in DVD2AVI? If you didn't, your problem could be an incorrect field order.

  3. I have had a similar problem with "remember the titans" and "the emperors's new grove".

    Since all three of these (I think) are Disney movies, I think maybe disney has some special anti-copy stuff on their dvd's.

    If anybody has successfully copied a recent Disney movie, maybe they know the solution to our problem.

    I will try the forcefilm option on rtt to see if it fixes it

  4. hmmm...
    nope - that didn't work either.
    Just to make sure we are both having the same problem, I made a little demo to show what's happening:

    http://killen.homeip.net/~justin/rtt-divx.avi

    here's the process i used to make it:
    smart ripper -> .vob
    dvd2avi vfp plugin & tmpgenc -> .mpg
    virtualdub (split out segment) -> .avi (divx)

    Note: I only put it in dixv so it would be small enough to download (~450k)

  5. Thanks for the Response Guys.

    I did not use the force film option when performing the DVD2AVI process. I will attempt to see if that has any affect. I suspect that it won't based on Packratt's experience.

    Packratt I was unable to play your .AVI. My Windows Media Play gave me the following error message:

    "Cannot play back the video stream: no suitable decompressor could be found."

    I did follow the same process that you described through the file output to .mpg.

    If I knew how to attach a file I could probably make a small 10 - 20 second clip to show what I am experiencing.

  6. Thanks for the reference Packratt.

    I will try the procedure outlined in the other post.
