    i was wondering is there a way i can cut out someone talking from an audio file? there are 2 people talking at the sametime and i want to be able to cut out one person's voice so i can only hear the other

  3. If you are lucky, you have one person talking only in the right channel and the other in the left. Then it is just a matter of removing that channel. Otherwise, I think you are stuck.

    You'll have to do your own research (google etc..) but what you want is some type of audio frequency spectrum analyser program which will let you isolate a sound pattern and eliminate or keep it. I have seen programs that claim to do something like this but never tried any myself.

    Simple examples of this are those programs that clip audio or remove pop and hiss from tape or old 33/45 rpm record copies.

    You will need something a little more sophisticated with a timeline display so you can identify, mask and then replay edited portions until you get what you want.

    This is a real bitch to do. Be prepared for work. Lots of work. And good programs. Lots of programs. I tried this once. I eventually gave up with partial results.

    I used SoundForge and Pro Tools.

    I think Dart can do some of this too, but never tried. It has a decent analysis and audio prints for removing parts of the spectrum (normally hum, noise and hiss).
