I have done some reading and found the things that can cause jerky playback. Converting to different fps, too high bitrate for player etc. Those are not the problem.

My problem is this though. My source vid Pal(25 fps) 512x288 is converted to svcd using two projects. I always use 1:1 vga non-interlaced full-screen 2 (should I be?) and that works for most everything. The problem is the first half is jerky and the second half isn't. At first I thought it was a bitrate problem so I encoded again and this time played it on my computer. It came out exactly the same. It's jerky on the computer aswell. What could be causing that? It's the only source I have had this problem with. Now that I think of it. Its the only source I wasn't able to extract the audio from in vdub. I can't for the life of me get a codec for xvid that vdub recognizes. I am using Nic's/ffdshow right now. Could that be the problem?

Another thing. What causes particles to stick to blackness during playback on a dvd player? Anyone have that problem? Like left over pixles from a light scene kind of ghosting over to a dark portion of the screen. I have seen that on two different players. Is there a setting to make that not so apparent or is that just bad source video or what?

You can also try changing the field order as well. As for blockiness, you may also want to try diffferent media.
