  1. I recently tried to make a copy of a DVDR that was made with DVDSHRINK and I have not had any success. I could not open the DVD using DVDSHRINK and I could not use Nero to do a DVD COPY. Is there a way to make a copy of a DVDSHRINK created DVDR? I also tried using DVDDecrytor without any success either...

  2. I make direct exact copies all the time with RecordNow Max so I don't understand why you're having problems doing that with Nero. Another way to make a copy is to use SmartRipper then burn the DVDR.

  3. dvddecryper. Make an ISO image rip and then burn it back also using dvddecrypter.

  4. Hi,

Are you using Nero to copy "on the fly", so directly from a DVD reader to your DVD writer? I use Nero 5.5.n.n (latest update) and have found that copying on the fly can be problematic.

If I copy to a hard drive image first and the burn, all works fine.

...or saving to HDD first is the safest way to make a copy because there is less chance of a buffer underrun/failed finalization.

It sounds like your PC can't read that disk.
Do you have a DVD rom and a DVD burner ?
Try reading the disk from both of those just by opening with windows.

I think that's the one (dvdxcopy) that includes their own version of "butt coverage".

Sticks some extra stuff in to prevent multiple copies to try and comply with "fair use" (ie.: one personal backup of owned disc).

But there are so many out there now, the names are starting to all blur together in my head. I know there's at least the one that works like that, maybe more?.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Yes but that can only work if you use a copy program
that's aware of the agreement to do that.
What if i just copy with generic disk image copy ?

I don't know. :co I don't really do backups. I was just going by what I'd read and different s/w descriptions/reviews.

There's no PHYSICAL reason that you shouldn't be able to copy... at least not on the disc.

So if you can't copy your backups, the reason could be:

    1. Can't read the disc. Check your DVD-ROM.

    2. Bad media.

    3. err... there's no #3. Bad ASPI layer maybe? *shrug*
