vegas does a perfect job ..

i have vv3.0 and never learned it.. looks way too intimidating. Well, opened it up last nite and again.. was completely clueless (big ? sitting over my head).
so i open up the manual and look for 'audio conversion' and of course, nothing.. 'audio editing'.. something, but couldn't find anything on framerate conversion.. ??
well, i 'wung' it and tried opening up the 25fps ac3/2ch stereo file and vv would not accept it -- 'not supported'.. ??
but my bigger ? is why the bloody mess can i NOT get BeSweet to work properly.. i mean, do the planets have to be aligned or.. ?? -
convert your stereo ac3 file to a wave file using besweet (this is straight forward)
open vegas and load your encoded NEW frame rate mpeg file (it has to be a program file -- if it is a m2v file , mux it with no audio using tmpgenc or frame serve it using virtualdub modified (its in the tools section) ...
load your ac3 converted wave into vegas .
increase view so that you can forward by single frames (zoom into the timeline)
go to the end of the movie (audio end)
hold the left shift key down and click the end of the audio timeline right on the wave ..... the cursor will change to a wavy line and then drag the audio so that the end of the audio and the end of the video and perfectly the same lenth ..
right click on the wav and in properties - select change time , preserve pitch ..
render to a new ac3 file ..
load new ac3 and mpeg in to your fav authoring package and author away ...
burn
watch
the whole operation is done in no time -- very fast and excellent perfect results ..
as an option .. you can watch movie in vegas and adjust frames 1 forward or back if need be (adjust the audio time line)"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

Thanks, BJM! OK, I'm stuck already and I haven't even gotten to vv3.0 yet.. aargh!
I've converted ac3 to wav--BUT--i'm not even sure if it completely converted. But the wav is much larger (~1G) than the original ac3 file, which is ~400MB. does that sound right?
As for the video, yes, the file is a .m2v that was created by CCE.. "mux with no audio"?? So just import the m2v file into TMPGEnc Plus and leave audio empty and process? so i'm simply muxing with no audio? i tried that but TMPG will not process---it's saying that it needs an audio file to mux..
I really appreciate the assistance.. Thanks! -
ac3 files are highly compressed files -- the wav file will be MUCH larger ..
yes you can mux m2v files in tmpgenc .. make sure you pick program stream first and just put the m2v file in and go .. no audio required .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
